The first thing I did was to go online and do a search for property management companies in Portland. I found some websites for individual companies but I also found a good website that had directories of companies. I started there to save time. I was able to enter in some information and find good matches. Then I made sure to read their individual business information and collect their contact information. Once I did this, I asked some of my present tenants who were good renters if they had ever gone through any of these companies to get a home before. If they had, I then asked who they liked and why. I figured if I could keep my tenants happy then they would stick around longer. I also asked some of my contractors if they had heard good things or worked with any property management companies. And finally, I went online again and asked some fellow real estate investors in a forum if they had any experience with management companies in Portland. After doing all of this, I narrowed my choices to just a few and went to meet them in person. Do yourself a favor. Follow this formula and find yourself a good company to manage your rental homes.
