Chances are if you are getting ready to sell your home you are starting to look at real estate agencies in your home town. While you can sell your home yourself, going with a real estate agent will take a lot of the stress and trouble away that comes with selling a home. The problem that arises is that there are probably 100s of agents out willing to sell your home, so how do you know which one is the best for you and your home.
Here is a look at some questions to ask a real estate agency before you sign that contract for them to sell your house. Their answers will help you decide if they are the right real estate agency to go with.
What is your knowledge of the area? Agents who know the area like the back of their hand tend to sell homes faster than those that are unfamiliar with the area of the home. Ask the agent if he knows the area, the homes that surround your property and other factors that will determine their knowledge of the area.
What is your selling plan? Ask the agent what their selling plan is. Where will they advertise your home? Will they use the Internet? Will they hold open houses? You want to have a very active agent who will work with your home. Sometimes agents will make the house do all the selling and it could sit on the market for years.
What is your commission? Some agents go on a flat fee and some go on a commission rate. While neither is wrong, chances are a commission rate will encourage the agent to get the top dollar for your home. It also will help you to figure out how much you will get for your home if you know how much the agent will be taking out.
